How to Turn Off SOS on iPhone 11
How to Turn Off SOS on iPhone 11
SOS is a feature on iPhone 11 that allows you to quickly and easily call for help and alert your emergency contacts in case of an emergency. However, sometimes you might accidentally trigger SOS by pressing the side button and one of the volume buttons at the same time, or by rapidly pressing the side button five times. This can be annoying and inconvenient, especially if you don't need emergency assistance. Fortunately, you can turn off SOS on your iPhone 11 by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Go to iPhone 11 Settings
On your iPhone 11, tap the Settings app icon, which looks like a gray gear. You can find it on your home screen or in the App Library.
Step 2: Tap Emergency SOS on iPhone 11
In the Settings app, scroll down until you see Emergency SOS, which has a red icon with the letters "SOS" on it. Tap on it to open the Emergency SOS settings.
Step 3: Turn Off the SOS Options on iPhone 11
In the Emergency SOS settings, you will see two options that can trigger SOS: Call with Hold and Release, and Call with 5 Button Presses. To turn off these options, tap the switches next to them to toggle them off. The switches will turn from green to gray when they are off.
- The Call with Hold and Release option allows you to call emergency services by pressing and holding the side button and one of the volume buttons until the Emergency SOS slider appears, then releasing them. If you continue to hold down the buttons, a countdown will begin and an alert will sound. If you release the buttons after the countdown, your iPhone 11 will automatically call emergency services.
- The Call with 5 Button Presses option allows you to call emergency services by rapidly pressing the side button five times. The Emergency SOS slider will appear, and you can drag it to call emergency services. If you don't drag the slider, your iPhone 11 will automatically call emergency services after a short delay.
By turning off these options, you will prevent your iPhone 11 from accidentally calling emergency services or sending a text message to your emergency contacts. However, you can still use SOS by dragging the Emergency SOS slider manually if you need it.
Step 4: Confirm Your Changes
After turning off the SOS options, you will see a confirmation message at the bottom of the screen that says "Emergency SOS is turned off". Tap OK to confirm your changes and exit the Emergency SOS settings.
Congratulations!
You have successfully turned off SOS on your iPhone 11. You can now use your iPhone 11 without worrying about accidentally triggering SOS. However, if you ever need emergency assistance, you can still access SOS by dragging the Emergency SOS slider manually from the power off screen.
